Vilkyskiu Pienine Group becomes Vilvi Group

One of the largest cheese manufacturers and dairy processors in the Lithuania - Vilkyškių Pieninė begins operations under the Vilvi Group brand name uniting the whole group.

Vilvi – is the symbol of success

“27 years ago, when we entered the market as Vilkyškių Pieninė, we firstly highlighted our small dairy’s close relationship with customers, the natural quality of our product, and the unique origins of its flavour in our business relationships. However, soon we recognised our position as participants in the global dairy market, and in 2011 we presented our new brand intended for export – Vilvi. Justifiably, now, we can call Vilvi the symbol of our success and the basis of our groups’ global identity. Today a great share of our group’s export production is labelled with this particular brand name,” – explained the CEO of the group Gintaras Bertašius.

According to Bertašius, almost three decades for a food industry business – is a long period of time. In this period of operations, the changes that occurred at Vilkyškių Pieninė, as well as the success stories, became the foundation for the decision to unify the business group’s identity in all of the markets across the world, this way reinforcing the global recognition of the brand.

In the last 5 years the group’s share of export has grown from 67 to 80 percent. The group presently sells its production to 58 countries around the globe, 30% of them are EU member states. In the last and current year, the Vilvi Group has expanded its export trade to China, Chile and Australia.

During 2011 – 2019 the group’s investments reached 59 million euros, and the main share of these investments was dedicated to the innovations of the last five years, the biggest of them – the newly built most modern whey processing plant in Northern Europe with fully automated processing.

In the near future, the group intends to focus on its main investment direction – innovative products pertinent to the consumers around world.

The group’s sales revenue, according to unaudited data, during the first half of 2020 reached 55.8 million euros – 4.1% increase in comparison to the same period in 2019, when income reached 53.6 million euros. In January to June 2020 Vilkyškių Pieninė business group made 1.2-million-euro net profit.

On the path to their new identity as Vilvi Group are the following businesses in the group – Vilkyškių Pieninė AB,  Modest ABKelmės Pieninė AB and Pieno Logistika AB. The group as a whole employs more than 800 employees. 51% of Vilvi Group shares are controlled by Swisspartners Insurance, also 17% of the shares belong to Multi Asset Selection Fund, smaller shareholders own the remaining 32% of the shares.
