Latvijas Gāze, JSC: Marguerite Fund Completes Purchase of JSC "Latvijas Gāze" Shares
Today, January 28th, Marguerite Fund purchased 28.97% or shares in the vertically integrated utility JSC "Latvijas Gāze" which is in charge of natural gas transmission, distribution, storage and supply in Latvia.
The seller of the shares Uniper Ruhrgas International GmbH (formerly E.ON Ruhrgas International GmbH) will remain shareholder of the JSC "Latvijas Gāze" with 18.26% of shares.
Marguerite Fund has been established with support from six leading European financial institutions (Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, European Investment Bank, Instituto de Crédito Oficial, KfW and PKO Bank Polski) and the European Commission to make capital investments in infrastructure within 28 Member States of the EU. Marguerite Fund is advised by Marguerite Adviser S.A., an independent consultancy firm.
The German utility Uniper Ruhrgas International GmbH has been a shareholder of the JSC "Latvijas Gāze" since April 2, 1997.
Currently the largest shareholder of the JSC "Latvijas Gāze" – with 34% of shares – is the Russian utility "Gazprom". Marguerite Fund now owns 28.97% of shares, followed by Uniper Ruhrgas International GmbH (18.26%), the LLC "Itera Latvija" (16%) and minor shareholders (2.8%). The total number of shares and the total number of voting shares of the JSC "Latvijas Gāze" is 39,900,000.
